A couple with two young boys in Acton asked us to create a master plan that improved the connection between their kitchen and living areas, added a screen porch, created a first floor guest area with a bathroom, added a second floor bedroom, and a basement mudroom.

For phase one, we moved their kitchen to the back of the house, closer to the living room. The existing kitchen space and office became a guest suite with den/office, bathroom and bedroom. An existing porch and bedroom were converted to the kitchen. Part of the basement garage was made into a mudroom. Framed, inset, custom cherry cabinets are complimented by Green Vermont Slate counters. Wrought iron brackets support the island counter. Counter height sills at the kitchen sink maximize views of conservation land. Older guests enjoy the new shower with low sill. The dining area is now next to the kitchen, which opens-up to the living room. For phase two, a screen porch, with bedroom above, will be added off the dining room.
