Sunroom for Graduation

A mother in Acton wanted a new kitchen and sunroom addition completed in time for a High school graduation party. She planned to work with a contractor, who had finished her basement. She felt her current oak cabinets with laminate counters were dated, the island was too big, and she needed a desk area. The sunroom would open-up off the kitchen and lead to a new patio area outside. We added a Mitsubishi unit for heating and air conditioning, rather than extend the existing system. Transom windows in the gable end of the sunroom maximized day light. Off-white painted cabinets with uppers that extend to the ceiling contrast with a dark cherry island. A rich cream granite with rust and green grains ties everything together. Glass upper doors and decorative lights add variety. The stove has been moved, to free up a crowded corner. With a shorter island, a desk and pantry were added, still leaving room for a round table. The oak floor extends into the sunroom, tying it to the rest of the house. With a construction slot locked in, the project was completed in time for the party.
